My name is Justin Lyons. I have had a passion for fishing all of my life. I live and have my shop in the town of Buffalo, SD. I learned the craft of building split cane fly rods from Bill Oyster. Each rod that I build has 30 plus hours of time from start to finish.

My hope is to build you a custom rod (weight, length, grip size, color and engraving) that you feel will be an heirloom to be handed down to the next generation.

"Eventually, all things merge in to one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the worlds great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters." -Norman Maclean

I recently had the privilege of guiding the owner of Lyons Bamboo rods--Justin--and his wonderful family on a 4 day fishing trip in Alaska for silver salmon. They are the epitome of hardworking, honest American people. It was the most enjoyable fishing adventure I've partaken in, we caught over 125 salmon ranging from 4-15lbs, all on Justin's beautiful custom rods. The craftsmanship and quality of these rods is incredible, and they are tough enough to endure the rigors of silver salmon fishing in Alaska! I can't say enough good things about Lyons rods, or the Lyons family. Order yours and find out for yourself!

Justin, really nice work. It brings back memories of our time together in Bill's class. I have built 3 rods since then. Hope you can make it to Alaska. If not, we will work out something else to get to fish together.

What an amazing talent you have! This is something that people can pass down to their children and grandchildren which is pretty unheard of these days! Thank you for letting me learn a little more about fly rods!
